TEACHING PRACTICE

images.jpeg-13.jpg

PROCEDURES OF TEACHING

-As a practice teacher, class observations and consultation with the supervisor are very essential. It allows me to acquire additional knowledge and information on how to manage the class and to acquire more strategies on how to cater the needs of the students.

Before we proceed with our actual classroom teaching in UTSS, we did some classroom observation in different classes to find out the appropriate actions to be done in the classes. Normally, it begins with a greeting and checking of attendance as the routinely activity and then, the teacher will motivate the students through presenting an activity that will show a glimpse of the topic to be discussed right after the activity. After that, the class will proceed to the actual discussion to further explain all the concepts incorporated on a particular topic. Oral questioning is also part of to further explain the concepts incorporated. While in terms of assessing the students understanding about the lesson, usually the teacher conducts a written test or quiz. For the students to remember the topics, generalizations are also presented. Lastly is the application of the learning acquired by the students where the teacher will give an activity that requires the students to think of possible ways on how they are going to apply the knowledge they acquired in their daily lives.

TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES

-Punctuality is very important in Japan. They are very particular in time management where they start and finish their tasks on time. During our actual teaching, we use our teaching plan to manage the time allotted for every part of the lesson and in some instance, the lesson proper is already done and we still have time to spare and since they are always on time, we definitely need to come up with some alternatives just to consume the remaining duration of the class. Through the continuous practice of this, we were able to improve our time management abilities which are vital as a part of our teaching skills.

PROBLEM SOLVING

-PROBLEMS

-Language Barrier

-Communication Barrier

-High cost of living in Japan

-SOLUTIONS

-Used the basic and easy English words

-Learn the basic Japanese words

-Manage allowance and avoid unnecessary expenses

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

-Managing the Japanese class was not a hindrance for me because of how disciplined and well- mannered they are.

In UTSS, we’ve been assigned to 2nd Grade Class which consists of 4 different sections (2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D). I thought it would be easy for us to handle the classes since they are taking up the same subject which is Social Studies, but it turns to a more challenging one. As every student has different levels of understanding and thinking skills, it is our task to look for various strategies and techniques on how to facilitate the learners and cater the needs of every student. Given the fact that there are sections who are more active and were able to easily understand English, there were also some students who are having a hard time to understand English as our medium of instruction. In that case, we applied some strategies like using the easy English words and not the complex one, giving more realistic examples and illustrations about the topic and lastly is allowing the students to ask for some questions and clarifications to further understand the lesson.

PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG's) IS ONE OF THE GOAL OF UTSS THAT IS WHY WE, THE SEA-TEACHERS WERE ASSIGNED TO TALK ABOUT A PARTICULAR GOAL WHICH IS COMMON AND HIGHLY ENCOURAGED IN OUR RESPECTIVE COUNTRY.

I THINK THIS IS A GOOD KIND OF PROGRAM TO RAISE AWARENESS ON SOCIAL ISSUES AND AN EYE OPENER FOR EVERYONE THAT WE REALLY NEED EACH OTHER TO ATTAIN THE SUCCESS OF THIS GOAL.
