TEACHING METHODS

As I have observed with my cooperating teacher, Kenichi Yoshida Sensei and the other teachers in Sakado, I found out that they used different method to facilitate their class. Sometimes they’re using the traditional way of teaching with the use of pen and board as well as visual materials like posters and illustrations to discuss the lesson, meanwhile they also used the modern way of teaching through the use of educational technology like the power point presentation, television and etc.

LEARNING MATERIALS AND INNOVATIONS

The learning materials used by my cooperating teacher are books and the internet at the same time. He also use the interactive monitor, laptops or even tablets whenever he is discussing or showing some illustrations in front of the class. Worksheets and handouts are also provided for the students to easily understand and follow the flow of discussions.

LEARNING AND THE TECHNOLOGY

Every classroom in UTSS has a projector which is very convenient to use. The speakers are well functioning, even the HDMI/VGA is provided. There’s also a modern interactive monitor in some special classes which is very advantageous and easy to use. Through this kind of technology, the lessons can easily deliver and explain in the class and the teaching-learning process will be more interactive.

AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT

My cooperating teacher used the questioning and activity to assess his students. Asking questions is an important way to encourage the students to think and problem solve.

It also enhances their levels of thinking through the “HOTS” (Higher Order Thinking Skills) and “LOTS” (Lower Order Thinking Skills) as an art of questioning.

Group activity is also an essential method to make the students more interactive and a learners-centered class just like what Kenichi Yoshida Sensei did during our observation in his class. He used an activity and it allows the students to think deeper and find out the possible solution for a particular problem. Fortunately, it works and students were able to analyze the logic of the game.
